Treacle is a proud supporter of the RSPCA's Choose Wisely program. By buying eggs, chicken and pork that have been produced humanely and choosing to eat at cafes and restaurants that do the same, we can all make a difference to farm animal welfare.

Over 100 businesses around Australia have shown they care about the welfare of farm animals by Choosing Wisely and serving humane food.

Did you know:

• 72% of eggs in Australia (2.1 billion) are produced from hens housed in battery cages. Treacle chooses eggs wisely using barn-laid, free-range or RSPCA Approved eggs.
• The average Australian eats 165 eggs every year but there's a lot more to the humble egg than just being scrambled, boiled or fried. If a food product contains an egg or egg product it must state on the label through common terms such as egg yolk, albumin, egg powder, egg solids, mayonnaise, egg white, egg lethicin and ovalbumin.
• Meat chickens (broilers) and egg laying hens are two different breeds of bird, bred for different purposes. In Australia, most meat chickens are farmed in large sheds holding around 40,000 chickens. Treacle chooses their chicken free-range.
• Most pigs in Australia will never step foot in the outdoors. They can't root in the dirt, wallow in the mud or forage for food. Treacle serves free-range, bred free-range or RSPCA Approved pork and pork products.
